In addition to traditional author, title and keyword searches, the citation databases offer access to articles' cited references - the footnotes from authors' bibliographies. You may take a known, relevant paper and find other, more recent papers that cite it.

Dictionary of Effects and Phenomena in Physics  

An alphabetical arrangement of over 400 physical effects and phenomena, the names associated with the effects and their relationships to other effects. Entries include literature references. Supplementing the main section of entries are fifty-five tables. Also included are a chronology of the effects and a bibliography of related references.

Dictionary of Physics  

Definitions are clear and vary in length as needed. A few articles on important topics run one to two pages, and there are some biographical entries for important physicists. Cambridge Structural Database  

CSD contains crystal structure information for over 180,000 organic and metal organic compounds. All of these crystal structures have been analyzed using X-ray or neutron diffraction techniques. For each crystallographic entry in the CSD there are three distinct types of information stored. These are conveniently categorized in terms of their "dimensionality." Desktop access to CSD is facilitated by ConQuest. Ask the Blommer Reference Desk for the installation instructions.

Beginning with the first U.S. dissertation in 1861, Digital Dissertations represents the work of authors from over 1,000 North American and European universities on a full range of academic subjects. Includes abstracts for doctoral dissertations beginning July 1980 and for Master's theses beginning Spring 1988. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350-word abstracts. Citations for Master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. All dissertations published since 1997, and some from prior years, are available for free download; others may be requested via Interlibrary Loan.
